Historia or Krista as she was formerly known, was quite the pivotal character in both Seasons 2 and 3, with her reveal of having royal blood, moving the gears for the former arc in season 3. Historia is a complicated character, as she plays the role of a goddess while continually discarding her worries and troubles for the sake of others.
1. Historia’s Mask
This is a trait that Ymir points out she hates a lot, while also being vulnerable to it as she’s the only one who realizes what a dark past lies behind Historia’s mask. But the further she cracks in, the deeper the hole goes, ultimately leading to what happens to Ymir. This helps develop Historia’s character, on the other hand, as she refuses, her parents forced desire she learns to stand on her own feet while also avoiding people to worry about her troubles. In other words, she sheds her mask.
2. Love in the Air?
Fun Fact: While Reiner wanted to respect Ymir’s wishes and bring Historia back to safety, he also had a crush on her and wanted to marry her. This would be an idea that falls apart, however, considering the direction she takes against him.
3. The Goddess
The official Attack on Titan site reveals that many of her male classmates had a crush on her, as a recurring gag in the series, refers to her as the “Goddess” of the 104th. This whole gag started in Episode 3/Chapter 15 when Historia gives Sasha her bread after she was forced to run for 5 hours straight. Second, when Jean and Armin in Episode 18/Chapter 24 are rescued by her when the Female Titan is attacking them.
4. The Meaning of Historia
Krista’s real name, Historia, is of Greek origin and means “History.” While Krista means “The anointed one,” or in Hebrew mentioned as the “Messiah,” which fits thematically with how her character is portrayed in the series and the direction she later on takes.
5. Historia’s Birthday
Her birthday is on January the 15th, which, if you don’t know used to be celebrated as Coming of Age Day (a tradition between 1948 and 2000).
6. Last Descendants
Alongside Zeke Yeager, Historia is the only other last known living descendant of the late Ymir Fritz.
7. The First King’s Will
But do you want to know something cool? Historia’s childhood is a mimic of the situation of Paradis Island. Fences surrounded her farm, much like the walls surrounding the city. There were bullies outside who’d throw rocks at her, which would stop her from wanting to leave the farm. Sound familiar? This is like the Titans who enslave the humans inside the wall by sheer terror alone. Frieda Reiss erased her memories and told her to never go over the fence, echoing the first king’s will.
