Top 8 Best Houses to Live in Skyrim

Aside from slaying dragons, marrying women, and going on epic journeys, Skyrim allows you to purchase a home for yourself. There can be times when you will want to store your loot, or simply get some rest. For that purpose, you will need to get yourself a house.

In the game, there are various homes available but not all of them are going to offer the same benefits. They can be unlocked by either by completing a quest or by paying a certain amount of gold. It can also become really frustrating if you choose the wrong one because you will then have to buy another one and move all of your stuff there. To save you from the trouble, we are going to list some of the top houses in Skyrim.

Top 8 Best Houses to Live in Skyrim

As there are only a few homes available in Skyrim to be purchased, we are going to mention those ones too that you can get after you marry a character.

8. The Winking Skeever

The Winking Skeever is one of the top houses in Skyrim. Many players claim that this house is perfect for those who have just started playing Skyrim. You can get this house after you marry Sorex Vinius, and for that, all you need to do is deliver a bottle of rum to Falk Firebeard. This house will also help you get your hands on some important things such as potions and food. In addition to this, it offers a huge amount of storage so that you don’t face any storage issues. If you ask me, then this is surely one of the best houses you can get in the early stages.

7. Sarethi Farm

The Sarethi Farm is another house that comes with many benefits. It can provide you with potatoes, gourds, and nirnroot. The best thing about this is that the owner of the farm will handle all the cultivation process, and all you need to worry about is how you’ll use a huge supply of these resources. The Farm is also filled with food and alchemy materials. There is even an Alchemy table on which you can practice your alchemy skills. However, if you’re looking for a house with a lot of storage, then this might not be the right option for you. It only offers a chest and some barrels for you to store your items in.

6. Abandoned House

The Abandoned House might sound like an old haunted place, but it is actually the complete opposite. In fact, it is one of the best houses available in Skyrim. Along with offering huge storage, this house offers a wide range of weapons, food, and clothes. Not only this, but the amount of storage it offers is more than most of the houses available in the game. In order to obtain this house, all you have to do is complete the House of Horrors quest. Keep in mind that you won’t actually own this house, but it will still serve as the best alternative home during the early stages of the game.
